Season Finale Wednesday 5/23/12

The Middle – ABC 8/7c – Season 3 finale. Mike’s brother, Rusty (Norm Macdonald), invites the Hecks to his wedding, but lists their address as the location of the ceremony; Brick isn’t allowed to go to a party that falls on the same day of the wedding.

American Idol – FOX 8/7c – Season 11 finale. A season of amazing talent boiled down to this night. Who will be the next American Idol? Will it be the musical artist, Philip Phillips or the big voice, Jessica Sanchez? Last season’s winner, Scotty McCreery and Rihanna perform. This might also be judge Jennifer Lopez’s last episode as she is trying to decide if she wants to stay on any longer. I’m sure she will because they’ll throw a ton more buckets of money at her to keep her on the show.

Modern Family – ABC 9/8c – Season 3 finale. While Gloria helps Cam and Mitch pursue an adoption opportunity, Jay and Manny baby-sit Lily; Alex attends her first prom; Haley makes a shocking announcement about her plans for the future. This season has been a mixed bag of nuts. There have been some great episodes and then some lackluster ones but regardless of all that it’s still one of the best comedies on tv.

Don’t Trust The B- In Apartment 23 – ABC 9:30/8:30c – Season 1 finale. June tries to keep up with Chloe and her party lifestyle; James loses it when he finds out that Dean Cain has a bigger dressing room than he has. I like this show. It did get better than the pilot. It’s still not better than Happy Endings but I’m ok with that.

Revenge – ABC 10/9c – Season 1 finale. With the end in sight, Emily fearlessly pushes forward, closing in on the final phases of her plan for revenge, while the Graysons continue their downward spiral into the rabbit hole of self-destruction. But a big, explosive event leaves much hanging in the balance, courses are altered and even more is left in question. For all the stops and breaks that this show took, this finale better be the best one EVER. No matter what, I’ll still be back for next season.

Law And Order: SVU – NBC 10/9c – Season 13 finale. The team must go with caution when an underage escort is found dead at a wild bachelor party with high-profile people in attendance; Brian Cassidy (Dean Winters), a former SVU detective who is working under, helps Benson and Amaro investigate. I haven’t watched this show at all this season since Stabler (Christopher Meloni) left. I heard its been pretty good though.

'Smash' scoop: Ellis and Dev are leaving the show! -- EXCLUSIVE

Reblogged from Inside TV:

Two Four characters on NBC’s Smash are expected to leave the show — and we suspect fans are not going to be disappointed.

Philandering fiancé Dev (Raza Jaffrey) and devious assistant Ellis (Jaime Cepero) will not be regulars in the show’s second season, sources say. It’s possible one or both actors could appear in an episode or two to wrap up their storylines, but that’s it.

Holy Crap. This is the best tv news I have heard all week. Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive; Dev and Ellis are out. I don't care either way about Dev but Ellis Ellis Ellis. Oh my gosh I can't stand his character. EW has also confirmed that Frank and Michael are also out. Frank I'm fine with; Michael, I liked and thought he was good but oh well. Now we just have to get Leo gone and everything will be all good.

Season Finales Tuesday 5/22/12

Dancing With The Stars – ABC 9/8c – Season 14 finale. Who will win the mirror ball trophy? Will it be the washed up NFL player Donald Driver? The opera singer from across the pond, Katherine Jenkins? Or the Latin playboy William Levy? Gladys Knight and Kelly Clarkson perform.
Glee – FOX 9/8c – Season 3 finale. Graduation is finally here, as McKinley High’s class of 2012 looks to the past and present, while contemplating the future.

Awkward Black Girl Season 2 Gets A Premiere Date and A New Home

ABG is back snitches!!!! Writer, producer and star of the hit and Shorty award-winning webseries has set the premiere date for the new season. Season 2 will premiere this June, more than likely on June 7th, if the pattern of the episode releases (first Thursday of the month) stays the same.

With the new season come some new characters who we saw at the end of season 1. There is a new boss and some new hires. We’ll also be seeing how J and White Jay’s relationship is going and all the awkward gems that come from that.

Another thing that is different is that ABG has now become a part of Pharrell Williams’ new I Am OTHER Youtube channel. The channel features programming that wants to celebrate and “explore the pursuit of individuality, the defiance of expectations, and the arrival of a new class of visionaries. ”

I can’t wait. I love this show. If you have never gotten into the awesome, amazingness of ABG, then get on it before the premiere next month. Here is episode 1. You’re welcome.

Season Finales 05/21/12: HOUSE

The end has come. The FOX series, House, will take its final bow today in a special 2 hour episode that begins at 8/7c. The first hour will be retrospective special that will look back at the show from the past 8 season and feature interviews with the series’ stars and producers, special original content and other surprises.

Then it ends with a finale that has been said will be pretty emotional for House fans. It was directed by series creator and executive producer David Shore. The premise of the episode is that while treating a drug addict patient, House begins examining his life, his future and his own personal demons. There is also expected to be a major death and plenty of returning people from the past.

Here is the promo for tonight’s episode.

Dan Harmon Out As Showrunner On Community

Dan Harmon, the creator and showrunner on NBC’s Community, was ousted out of the show he has worked on for the past 4 years. It seems like it’s not a mutual thing either as after it happened Harmon took to his Tumblr page to tell his side of the story.

Kids:

A few hours ago, I landed in Los Angeles, turned on my phone, and confirmed what you already know.  Sony Pictures Television is replacing me as showrunner on Community, with two seasoned fellows that I’m sure are quite nice – actually, I have it on good authority they’re quite nice, because they once created a show and cast my good friend Jeff Davis on it, so how bad can they be.

Why’d Sony want me gone?  I can’t answer that because I’ve been in as much contact with them as you have.  They literally haven’t called me since the season four pickup, so their reasons for replacing me are clearly none of my business.  Community is their property, I only own ten percent of it, and I kind of don’t want to hear what their complaints are because I’m sure it would hurt my feelings even more now that I’d be listening for free.

I do want to correct a couple points of spin, now that I’m free to do so:

The important one is this quote from Bob Greenblatt in which he says he’s sure I’m going to be involved somehow, something like that.  That’s a misquote.  I think he meant to say he’s sure cookies are yummy, because he’s never called me once in the entire duration of his employment at NBC.  He didn’t call me to say he was starting to work there, he didn’t call me to say I was no longer working there and he definitely didn’t call to ask if I was going to be involved.  I’m not saying it’s wrong for him to have bigger fish to fry, I’m just saying, NBC is not a credible source of All News Dan Harmon.

You may have read that I am technically “signed on,” by default, to be an executive consulting something or other – which is a relatively standard protective clause for a creator in my position.  Guys like me can’t actually just be shot and left in a ditch by Skynet, we’re still allowed to have a title on the things we create and “help out,” like, I guess sharpening pencils and stuff.

However, if I actually chose to go to the office, I wouldn’t have any power there.  Nobody would have to do anything I said, ever.  I would be “offering” thoughts on other people’s scripts, not allowed to rewrite them, not allowed to ask anyone else to rewrite them, not allowed to say whether a single joke was funny or go near the edit bay, etc.  It’s….not really the way the previous episodes got done.  I was what you might call a….hands on producer.  Are my….periods giving this enough….pointedness?  I’m not saying you can’t make a good version of Community without me, but I am definitely saying that you can’t make my version of it unless I have the option of saying “it has to be like this or I quit” roughly 8 times a day.

The same contract also gives me the same salary and title if I spend all day masturbating and playing Prototype 2.  And before you ask yourself what you would do in my situation: buy Prototype 2.  It’s fucking great.

Because Prototype 2 is great, and because nobody called me, and then started hiring people to run the show, I had my assistant start packing up my office days ago.  I’m sorry.  I’m not saying seasons 1, 2 and 3 were my definition of perfect television, I’m just saying that whatever they’re going to do for season 4, they’re aiming to do without my help.  So do not believe anyone that tells you on Monday that I quit or diminished my role so I could spend more time with my loved ones, or that I negotiated and we couldn’t come to an agreement, etc.  It couldn’t be less true because, just to make this clear, literally nobody called me.  Also don’t believe anyone that says I have sex with animals.  And if there’s a photo of me doing it with an animal – I’m not saying one exists, I’m just saying, if one surfaces – it’s a fake.  Look at the shadow.  Why would it be in front of the giraffe if the sun is behind the jeep?

Where was I?  Oh yeah.  I’m not running Community for season 4.  They replaced me.  Them’s the facts.

When I was a kid, sometimes I’d run home to Mommy with a bloody nose and say, “Mom, my friends beat me up,” and my Mom would say “well then they’re not worth having as friends, are they?”  At the time, I figured she was just trying to put a postive spin on having birthed an unpopular pussy.  But this is, after all, the same lady that bought me my first typewriter.  Then later, a Commodore 64.  And later, a 300 baud modem for it.  Through which I met new friends that did like me much, much more.

I’m 39, now.  The friends my Mom warned me about are bigger now, and older, bloodying my nose with old world numbers, and old world tactics, like, oh, I don’t know, sending out press releases to TV Guide at 7pm on a Friday.

But my Commodore 64 is mobile now, like yours, and the modems are invisible, and the internet is the air all around us.  And the good friends, the real friends, are finding each other, and connecting with each other, and my Mom is turning out to be more right than ever.

Ah, shit, I still haven’t called my fucking Mom.

Mom, Happy Mother’s Day.  I got fired.

Yes, Mom.  AGAIN.

This seems so shady for Sony to do this but this kind of seems to be the nature of the game when these types of things happen. I’m sure the new showrunners are going to be great and all but this being the last season of Community coming up, you’d think they’d just keep Harmon there till the end. And it doesn’t seem like he has a problem with the people he works with (except for that little dust-up with star Chevy Chase last month). They all have had nothing but wonderful things to say about him since the news broke of his departure.

Joel McHale, who plays Jeff Winger, tweeted “@danharmon you are a true genius. You gave me the role of a lifetime & three of the best years of my life. Buying #Prototype2 today.” Gillian Jacobs, Britta on the show, tweets, “I wholeheartedly agree with @joelmchale. I’m so grateful to @danharmon for my role, the show and everything else. Thank you, Dan. Thank you.” And finally Emily Cutler, a writer and producer on the show tweeted, “There is no #Community without @danharmon . Period.” I’m glad he wrote this and cleared it up because you just know they were gonna try to spin this and make it seem like he would still have a hand in the show when all he’s gonna be doing now is picking up a check.

What To Expect When You Are Expecting

I thought it was decent. I would rate it a solid B. Pretty funny. Not a fan of all the mushy oh I love being a parent blah blah blah but I expected that since I mean it’s a movie about parenting. Most unrealistic part was when Chase Crawford (who was looking really good) and Anna Kendrick characters had sex once and got pregnant and he stuck around and all of a sudden they were in love. Please. The ensemble is pretty good. One thing  that was weird Chris Rock something looked off about him, His hair looked a mess and was acting like a mess. He was hilarious though as usual. What to Expect When You Are Expecting is in theaters now.
